Ancon, the Queensferry Crossing, near Edinburgh, Scotland
Over 100,000 rebar couplers, manufactured by CRH company Ancon, have been used in the concrete support towers, end piers and road deck of one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world. The Queensferry Crossing, near Edinburgh, Scotland, will open in May 2017.

432 Park Avenue, New York City, is the tallest residential building in the world. CRH company HALFEN developed the stainless steel window washing track for the project. There is just under 5,500 lineal metres of track on the

A CAT 988K wheel loader, loads a gravel train at the Stoneco of Michigan - Ottawa Lake Quarry. The quarry shipped approx. two million tonnes in 2015 while continuing their run of 4,812 days worked without a lost time incident. Ottawa Lake has won multiple NSSGA and MAA awards for safety, community relations and environmental controls and is an MDOT-certified supplier of crushed limestone, sand, and gravel.

HALFEN, the Rehberger bridge, Oberhausen, Germany
The Rehberger bridge, also known as the “Slinky Springs to Fame” bridge-sculpture, spans the Rhine-Herne canal in Oberhausen, Germany. It consists of 496 spiral rings, each with a five metre diameter, suspended ten metres above the canal for a total length of 406 metres. HALFEN, a CRH Europe Lightside business, designed and engineered a solution consisting of serrated steel channels to connect the guardrail to the top of the concrete slab, and the spiral underneath the slab, as part of the same element. This clever design allowed the project to be constructed efficiently, safely and on time.

Oldcastle Precast provided Storm Capture® as a solution for the underground stormwater detention system at the new administration building site at Quantico National Cemetery, in Virginia – a military cemetery for veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Zoontjens, La Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris
The museum and cultural centre La Fondation Louis Vuitton, designed by architect Frank Gehry, opened in Paris in October 2014. Zoontjens produced 1,530 m2 of unique, natural stone rooftop terrace tiles designed to ensure they could withstand substantial weights of 20 kN per slab.

Employees safely excavate bulk sand at the Thompson-Arthur’s Candor Sand Plant in North Carolina. In 2014, the plant produced over 430,000 tonnes of product and employees celebrated 26 years of operating without a recordable, preventable, or lost time incident.

The Sky Tower, at 212 metres high, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Poland, being built in the centre of Wroclaw, South West Poland. The complex includes apartments, office space and a shopping mall. Bosta Beton, CRH’s readymixed concrete company in Poland, was contracted to supply the 52,000 cubic metres of concrete and pumping services required to complete this project.

On July 14th 2009, Van Neerbos Bouwmarkten celebrated the opening of its flagship DIY-store in Amsterdam. This store, the largest Gamma store in the Netherlands, added 10,000m2 of selling-space, reinforcing CRH’s market-leading position with the GAMMA brand in the Netherlands. Over 8000 people visited the store on its opening day.

Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Texas
Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas, is the largest NFL venue constructed to date. Each of Oldcastle’s six U.S. product groups provided materials for the 3 million-square-foot, 100,000 seating capacity stadium, which was completed in May 2009. Most impressive is the “bowl” area of the stadium, which showcases the 150-foot sliding glass curtain wall held in place by 750,000 pounds of aluminum superstructure.
Idaho Sand & Gravel Company, Highway 55, Idaho
Idaho Sand & Gravel Company paving a section of the scenic State Highway 55 which follows the Payette River in Valley County, Idaho. This project included 11,090 tonnes of asphalt, 63500 square metres of cold milling, the installation of 20 storm drain pipe crossings and required that single lane traffic be safely maintained during weekday construction on this busy tourist route.
Lövö Bridge, Finland
Rudus delivered over 3,000 m3 of frost-resistant concrete for the 473-metre long Lövö Bridge, completed in June 2011. The bridge has replaced a ferry connection in this scenic location in the Kemiö archipelago, Finland.
Gottard Base Tunnell, Swiss Alps
Gottard Base Tunnel is part of the Swiss Alp Transit project, also known as the New Railway Link through the Alps. With a planned length of 57km it will, on completion, be the longest railway/road tunnel in the world. Planning for the project started in 1993 with mechanical excavation commencing in 2003. The project features two separate tunnels containing one track each. Opening date is planned for 2017.

Shuangyang Cement plant, part of the 26% CRH-owned Yatai Cement is the largest cement plant in northeastern China. Clinker capacity is 7 million tonnes following the commissioning of a sixth kiln in fourth quarter of 2010. Shuangyang is located in Jilin Province, 100km south of the provincial capital Changchun.
Airport terminal Portland, Oregon
This 127,000 square foot glass canopy covers the entire arrival roadway at this airport terminal, creating a striking entrance for visitors. One of the largest canopy skylights in North America, this custom-engineered skylight by Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope™ achieved the architect’s vision in terms of aesthetics and performance.

Irish Cement’s Platin Works, Ireland
Significant energy efficiencies, clinker factor improvements and emissions reductions are being achieved following the commissioning of the new €200 million Kiln 3 production line at Irish Cement’s Platin Works in Ireland. Lower carbon CEM II cements now account for over 80% of the company’s product portfolio.
Omni Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas
The Omni Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas is a 34-storey, 604-room luxury hotel featuring a unique structural design and style. Oldcastle Glass supplied Insulating Glass, Solar Control Glass, Low-E Glass and Silk-screened Glass to this landmark building.

Vendome pavers manufactured by Oldcastle Architectural’s Canadian
subsidiary, Permacon, and Belgard Hardscape pavers from our United
States-manufactured Old World Collection were used in the driveway of this
construction project in Quebec, Canada, helping to blend the new property
into a neighbourhood where houses have been established for nearly
a century. The pavers of the driveway are intended to replicate old streets
paved with granite cobblestones.
A uGate by Heras at a BMW dealer in Lochristi, Belgium
The uGate, a cantilever sliding gate made of aluminum which can be
operated by hand or mechanically, was introduced by Heras, the Netherlandsbased
outdoor security specialist, in June 2012. This gate has maximum
dimensions of 12 metres width and 2.5 metres height, making it suitable for
many different applications. This picture shows a uGate at a BMW dealer in
Lochristi, Belgium. Heras distributes gates and fences throughout Europe.
Quester builders merchants Austria
Quester is the number one builders merchants in Austria with a prime
focus on professional contractors. In summer 2012 they opened a highly
energy efficient tile store in Wien-Auhof (shown) in co-operation with the
sanitary wholesalers SHT.
The Monarch 1 building in The Hague
The Monarch 1 building in The Hague was the first major renovated
building in the Netherlands to receive BREEAM sustainability certification, the
world’s foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for
buildings. The building was selectively deconstructed to the concrete skeleton
and rebuilt. To preserve climate control of the building 1,000 solar shading
elements were mounted on the facade; the horizontal profiles in the system
were developed by AVZ and the complete screens were assembled by Smits
Rolluiken, both part of Europe Products’ Shutters & Awnings business. Europe
Materials’ Cementbouw business supplied the concrete for the renovation.
The 53 kilometres Koskenkylä section of the E18 road in Finland
The transformation into a motorway of the E18 road is one of the most
extensive road projects ever in Finland and is due to open in 2015. The 53
kilometres Koskenkylä section (shown) will have six interchanges and 68 new
bridges. Rudus, Europe Materials’ Finnish aggregates and readymixed
concrete subsidiary, will be delivering 150,000 m³ of concrete and concrete
products (pipes, wells, railings) to this project.

Haven Avenue bridge outside of Los Angeles, California

girders for the City of Rancho Cucamonga outside of Los Angeles,
California. The bridge includes a 33-foot and a 52-foot girder, together
carrying two railroad tracks over Haven Avenue.
