CRH is committed to the highest standards of honest, legal and ethical behaviour as set out in our Code of Business Conduct (“COBC”) and the related policies and codes. This is underpinned by a culture of openness and our core values of integrity, honesty and respect for the law. Our COBC, policies and codes provide clear guidance on how we can put these fundamental principles into practice every day to ensure that we protect our integrity and continue to engage with our work colleagues, customers, suppliers and the wider community in a responsible, ethical, respectful and sustainable way.
Our Regulatory, Compliance & Ethics (RCE) Team provides guidance, support and assistance to operational management on the above matters and works closely with them to ensure that information and training in the appropriate policies and codes is available and is delivered to employees across the Group. This underpins our commitment to educate our employees in the Group’s core values and to ensure that they understand their roles and responsibilities in upholding the principles set out in these policies and codes. The overall message is simple and consistent: “there is never a good business reason to do the wrong thing”.
A violation of our COBC and/or any of its underlying codes or policies is taken very seriously and, subject to investigation outcomes, may result in appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. In particular, CRH takes a zero-tolerance approach to bribery, corruption and fraud. The Group Internal Audit Team works side-by-side with the Group RCE Team in monitoring compliance with policies and codes and in providing a comprehensive and integrated approach to assurance across the Group. This allows CRH to uphold its unwavering adherence to its core principles and to maintain the shared goal – to ensure CRH continues to lead with integrity.
