Innovation in action
Expanding for Lower-Carbon Products
In 2025, Ash Grove, a CRH Company, advanced technologies to expand SCM use and reduce carbon intensity. A new finish mill at Durkee, Oregon, increased capacity and reduced clinker with limestone and pozzolan. New separators in Midlothian, Tennessee and Mississauga, Ontario boosted production and limestone use to further lower emissions.
Overcoming Challenges for Decarbonization
Rudus, a CRH Company, in Finland introduced Fast Hardening Low‑Carbon Concrete for multi‑story residential projects. Until now, customers had few lower‑carbon options because cold‑weather conditions slowed the strength development of traditional mixes. Piloted successfully with customers in 2025, the new mix overcomes these challenges and achieves at least a 30% CO₂ reduction compared with Finland’s reference level.
Driving Performance for Lower-Carbon Products
Roadstone, a CRH Company, trialed an innovative low‑carbon asphalt using reclaimed materials, warm‑mix technology and bio‑based fuels, to achieve over 90% CO₂ savings without compromising performance.
