We recycle by-products and recovered materials to create value and extend the life of our reserves. By designing longer-lasting materials and products that can be reused, repurposed or recycled, we help our customers to create more resilient, durable buildings and infrastructure.
How we create value through circularity
By rethinking the way materials are used, we are increasing the recycling and reuse of construction and other waste materials. Our teams are innovating products and services that deliver performance while using fewer virgin materials and generating less waste.

Innovation in action
Designing More Circular Roads
CRH is the largest road paver in North America. Callanan Industries, a CRH Company, trialed an innovative warm mix asphalt using 40% Recycled Asphalt Pavement and a bio‑rejuvenator in Albany, New York. This delivered a pavement with a 32% lower embodied‑carbon than traditional mixes.
Expanding Our Materials Capabilities
In 2025, we acquired Eco Material Technologies, North America’s leading supplier of Supplementary Cementitious Materials for $2.1 billion. This transaction secures the long-term supply of critical materials for future growth, further enhances our circularity, and puts CRH at the forefront of the transition to next-generation cement and concrete.
Transforming Waste into Value
We continue to create value using wastes and by-products from other industries. In Switzerland, JURA Materials, a CRH Company, is supplying key materials for the A8 Tunnel while recycling 28,000 tonnes of mineral waste from the construction process, to reduce landfill disposal and support circularity.
