How we drive environmental management
We drive continuous improvement through robust environmental management systems and strong governance practices. We use Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs) to manage our biodiversity-related risk and to identify areas where we can incorporate specific habitat- or species-related actions, such as reclamation or pollinator activities.
By applying our expertise, collaborating with partners and embracing innovative technologies, we enable advancements in environmental performance.

Innovation in action
Dynamic Management to Promote Biodiversity
Lemona, a CRH Company, has enhanced biodiversity protection through adaptive management at its Biscay, Spain extractive site. Endangered Egyptian vultures began nesting in the active area, prompting Lemona, to adjust its quarry plans and introduce measures to avoid disturbing them. Expert monitoring enabled operations to continue safely while 12 chicks successfully fledged between 2018 and 2025. A growing number of other protected bird species have also been supported.
Revitalizing Landscapes
In Slovakia, Danucem, a CRH Company, restored a threatened steppe-like habitat by removing woody overgrowth across 1.5 hectares in 2025, protecting species such as the mountain Alcon blue butterfly. The revitalized grassland now supports diverse endangered plants and insects.
Empowering Our Teams
In our Materials business, we launched a four-module learning program for over 12,000 employees, aimed at building a balanced and practical understanding of our approach on topics such as water stewardship and circularity.
